Paul Nixon Retires

I was just listening to the fourth day of the 2nd test (England vs India) on Test Match Special and caught an interview with Paul Nixon on the day he announced his retirement.

Nixon, a Cumbrian who hasn’t lost his wonderful northern vowels, will play for Leicestershire until the end of the season and has previously played for Kent, MCC and Cumbria as well as for England in ODIs.

With a fantastic “chippy” style behind the stumps, Nixon has been playing for over 20 years and has scored 14,498 runs in his first-class career at an average of 34.35 with 21 centuries and 72 half-centuries. Nixon has held 889 catches in first-class catches and had 67 stumpings.
